In Japan, you may start walking when the light turns blue. This goes back to when Japan had only four colors in the vocabulary - white, black, blue, and red. (The color words that can end with an い.)

This road is called Sakunami Kaido （作並街道）. Sakunami is an onsen (hotspring) up in the mountains to the west of Sendai.
