Out of Position

I wanted a little more of the pagoda in the shot, but I could not back up. And if I had brought a wider lens, I would have had to move forward.

This is why scouting out the location beforehand is so important [which I did not do].

But I do like having the photographer in the shot.

From Death, Life Begins Anew

There is this tree stump (it's actually quite tall, and this small tree is growing out of it. I wonder what the roots will look like.

The Other Side

This shrine [within the temple complex] at Jogi Saihoji is at the base of what was once a huge tree. All that is left is the stump.

Jogi 2012 Fireworks

DSC_6545

One thing you should do when you take pictures is scout the location. I did a few weeks ago, but I didn't know where the fireworks would come from.

So when I got there (in the dark) I asked another guy with a camera where the fireworks would be and he said that direction. I wanted to get both the fireworks and the whole pagoda in the shot, but now I need to wait until next year to have another chance.

I guess I could have shot in portrait.

Rebel Base

I am looking forward to coming back here to Jogi Nyorai Saiho-ji Temple with a telephoto lens. I only went with a 55mm this time.

Signs

DSC_6105

Maybe instead of all the signs, they should move the shop closer to the street.
