Down by the Falls

The water was higher than I have seen it down by the base of Akiu Waterfall. The rocks where I usually sit were covered by water.

Of the pictures I took at Akiu, this was my favorite. I think the light was the best here.

In true Japanese fashion, there is a restaurant next to Akiu Falls that sells kakikori and probably some other sweets/coffee. I took a picture of the building, and when I got home I noticed the guy sitting there. He would have been a much more interesting subject.

A few hundred meter from these falls is the big falls of Ane-taki

Release the Hounds

These dogs were at Akiu Falls. Although they didn't take in the view.

I think that the falls are a little over exposed here.

This was last weekend. The leaves are probably at peak right now. The path to the bottom of the falls is closed until the end of January.

I couldn't resist trying the effect with this picture. It just didn't work as well as I had hoped.

Ginkos

I saw these beauties at the shrine near Akiu Falls. I've never seen leaves glow like that.

Crowds

It's not only Tokyo that has unbearable crowds. The best spot to view the falls were in the far corner. Next time I'll go early (or late).

River

I think this is the Hirose River, but I don't think it runs through Akiu.
