This statue is in Kotodai Koen in downtown Sendai. Tanikaze here was an Ozeki from Miyagi in the 1700's.

Every year the city builds an ice rink near Kotodai Park. I don't skate so I've never used it, but it looks fun.

Even though everything remains the same, I enjoy going down to Jozenji Street in the winter and seeing the decorations from Kotodai Koen to Nishi Park.
