Daikanon #65

I took this from the AEON parking lot with a 100mm lens. It would be a good angle without the wires.

A little dark, but Google Plus wouldn't let me edit this photo.

Daikanon #63

I am not sure which one of these I like better. They both need some cropping.

Daikanon #51 - Tangled

DSC_7897

While running by, I could not help but stop and take a picture of this. It is too bad that the wires run right in front of it.

Daikanon #49 - Senryu

DSC_7408

A senryu is a kind of Japanese poem that is supposed to be a humorous piece about human faults. I tried one, but it didn't turn out to be what I think a senryu is at all, but it is a nice poem.

夜の美花、
皆を引き込む、
虹のよう。

よのびはな、
みなをひきこむ、
にじのよう。

Beautiful flower of the night,
Draws everyone in,
Like a rainbow.

Daikanon #48 - High Key

Sendai Daikanon

From Wikipedia:
High-key lighting is a style of lighting for film, television, or photography that aims to reduce the lighting ratio present in the scene. This was originally done partly for technological reasons, since early film and television did not deal well with high contrast ratios, but now is used to suggest an upbeat mood. It is often used in sitcoms and comedies. High-key lighting is usually quite homogeneous and free from dark shadows. The terminology comes from the key light (main light).[citation needed]

The challenge was to do a shot in high key, and the Daikanon with a cloudy background gave me a great opportunity.

Here the Daikanon watches the eclipse on May 21. You can see the reflection of the eclipse just below the sun.

Daikanon #46

DSC_2969

On TV last night there was a professional photographer talking about how to compose pictures, and he had a shot of Roppongi Hills with a cherry blossom tree in front of it where the building was at an angle. It was cool and he said it worked because of the triangle composition.

I will try for that next year, but I guess this kind of makes a triangle.
