Jogi 2012 Fireworks
One thing you should do when you take pictures is scout the location. I did a few weeks ago, but I didn't know where the fireworks would come from.
So when I got there (in the dark) I asked another guy with a camera where the fireworks would be and he said that direction. I wanted to get both the fireworks and the whole pagoda in the shot, but now I need to wait until next year to have another chance.
I guess I could have shot in portrait.

Sendai Tanabata Fireworks
A shot of the Sendai Tanabata Fireworks last week. It was not a good night to have a fireworks festival.

Neighborhood Fireworks
Actually I do not know where this was, but I could see it from my house.
Here are some other fireworks shots I have taken. I think I got better, although some of the ones I took last year are OK. Of course, this was the best of the bunch from the other night.

Getting the Shot
I wanted to get a shot of the fireworks with people taking pictures, but I need to lighten this one a little so that you can tell they have heads.

Hanabi
There were fireworks galore on July 31 in Nakayama. I was lazy and brought my camera out on the balcony instead of trudging outside. If I had gone outside, I could have gotten some shots of the ones that were off to the right.
This was more of a practice run for the Tanabata Fireworks and the Daikanon Festival.

Jogi Fireworks Part 2
This is what happens to fireworks in the mountains [or anywhere for that matter] when there is no wind.

Senko Hanabi
Senko hanabi are the kind of fireworks used in Japan in the early 20th century. Here is an image I found that shows why I think this shot looks like them.

Surreal
By adjusting the focus when taking a long exposure of fireworks, you can get some as bokeh and some sharp.

The Last
A week of fireworks isn't bad. I had a lot more, but I tried to post what I thought were the best.
Normal programming resumes tomorrow.

Blended
I'm running out of pictures to post since I haven't been out shooting lately. The next few posts will be from last week's fireworks festival.
