I was trying to get a sense of perspective when I shot this.

A Sad State of Affairs

There was a lot of chalk graffiti on the sidewalk. This basically says "die". I hope this person gets some help.

Across the Sea

Somewhere across there is California.

Distant Star

Well, it is far enough so that light takes eight minutes to come to us. But it is the closest star to us.

Some days Mt. Daito looks like it is at a lower elevation than Nakayama.

As I walk to work there are some places where the grass has dew, but not many right now.

Rat in the Road

On the first day I came to Tokyo I was walking to my hotel in Ueno, and on the sidewalk I saw a dead rat. After a night of karaoke, on the subway platform I saw another dead one.

All these years and half the island away, I was walking through my neighborhood and I saw this on my way to work.

On a Sunday Afternoon

I took time out before my calligraphy lesson to take a look at the cherry blossoms near Teraoka. The trees did not look very good, but up close, blossoms are blossoms.
