Enhanced

DSC_6588

When I take pictures of fireworks, I like to have something else in the shot to give it some context. After I uploaded this picture to Flickr, I realized the sky was too black to see the building , so I "fixed" it with the Flickr photo tools.

This is what happens to fireworks in the mountains [or anywhere for that matter] when there is no wind.

Jogi 2012 Fireworks

DSC_6545

One thing you should do when you take pictures is scout the location. I did a few weeks ago, but I didn't know where the fireworks would come from.

So when I got there (in the dark) I asked another guy with a camera where the fireworks would be and he said that direction. I wanted to get both the fireworks and the whole pagoda in the shot, but now I need to wait until next year to have another chance.

I guess I could have shot in portrait.

Rebel Base

I am looking forward to coming back here to Jogi Nyorai Saiho-ji Temple with a telephoto lens. I only went with a 55mm this time.

Signs

DSC_6105

Maybe instead of all the signs, they should move the shop closer to the street.
